The Sacred Art of Smudging

Learn how to work with the four sacred medicines: tobacco, sage, cedar and sweetgrass [and more]

“In some Native languages the term for plants translates to ‘those who take care of us.’”

- Robin Wall Kimmerer

About this course

One of the first ways to communicate with and show respect for the natural world is the proper use of herbs: in how we pick them and how we use them.

This 56 minute course will cover the four primary herbs North American indigenous people use for smudging:

  • tobacco, sage, cedar and sweetgrass;
  • what you will need for smudging,
  • how to smudge,
  • how to obtain herbs for smudging.

Why this course?

This course came about when Molly was asked to create a curriculum to teach therapists how to smudge their Native American clients.
